Compulsions/Obsessions

Children, teens, and adults experience obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors at a surprisingly high rate, yet most suffer the symptoms rather than seek treatment.  Often viewed as tics, “quirks,” or personal eccentricities, repetitious thoughts, actions, or rituals can gobble up enormous amounts of effort and energy just to cope .  This problem is typically traced to anxiety, but may have a neurological basis as well.
