As of January 1, 2020, I am closing my office practice and will restrict my professional service to the following:
Online/Phone/Skype. Click here to request services (new and past clients alike);
Occasional Face-to-Face. This is limited to those I already know through current or past counseling;
Assessments. I continue to provide evaluations for individuals and agencies, for learning problems, cognitive or neurological difficulties, ADHD, psychological, workplace adjustment, etc.
Please feel free to contact me at 970-846-2289 (cell) or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Since beginning my psychotherapy practice, a great deal has changed in the delivery of mental health services in the Yampa Valley and in the public perception of what it means to seek professional help. I was once 1/2 of all counseling services in northwest Colorado, working with one colleague under the original Mental Health Center shingle (that facility was located in Hayden, to service communities in Moffat, Routt, Rio Blanco, and Jackson counties). We weren't very busy, the two of us. Back then, rural Colorado still regarded our clientele as weak and maybe a bit crazy, and our services were not in great demand. Those brave pioneers who knocked on our door helped begin the change we see today, in understanding the value of outpatient counseling.
That tiny mental health center expanded to have multi-staff facilities in all our larger communities today (now known as MindSprings), and there are now nearly 50 licensed psychotherapists practicing in the four counties as well. We've grown up! Counseling is no longer restricted to office hours. Therapists now have specialties to help with your individual needs. And in the Yampa Valley, steamboatcounseling.com is your way to find the perfect therapist for you.
So if you'd like to explore online counseling, or need some type of assessment, give me a call.
