Most mental health professionals in the Yampa Valley have identified areas of special interest to them and/or methods of treatment they like to use. This can be useful to you in your search for the right therapist. 

However, it can also be misleading. For one thing, what a therapist lists as his/her specialty areas does not mean that person is limited to those things. Most mental health professionals are competent in broad areas of treatment, but have identified only specific fields of expertise here (we’ve limited ourselves to five (5) specialty areas in the Search by Specialty Area). Those who have included a Profile Page are likely to identify other specialties there.

A second caveat is that some practitioners have not yet provided a list of their specialty areas, and therefore it’s possible for some people to be quite competent in a field but not listed as a specialist. As more psychotherapists provide their information, this will become less of a concern. This is a guide, therefore, and not (yet) a definitive cataloging of all specialists and specialties.
